Philips 531A
Hi Folks
Thought some pictures of this set would be of interest, as you see I have made a new support on the right of the cabinet, the original was just ripped off and this is how the rectifier got smashed. I am in the process of getting hold of some very thin drive cord for the capacitor drive, I will never understand why Phillips ever made such a complicated way of tuning the set, just my thoughts though. More to follow Regards Ken |

Re: Philips 531A
Hi Folks
I do not know if any other member has had to re-string the tuning cap but I got hold of some 0.8mm nylon drive cord from Chris and that will not go through those very small brass springs that feed from the small plastic drum to the capacitor, (see picture 1) I looked at a small section of the old drive cord and by heck isn't that small in diameter it must be less than 0.5mm. Perhaps someone may have a better idea on the type of drive cord Phillips used in this set. Ken |

Re: Philips 531A
Hi Ken, I've had success on Philips sets using Beadalon jewellery stringing wire. It comes in varying diameters and I'm sure there is one at 0.46mm. Jerry

Re: Philips 531A
I found it - still have a few metres left of 0.3mm wire. Send me a PM with your address and the length that you need and I'll stick it in the post FOC. Cheers, Jerry
