Stuffing an accumulator - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

I think I have had to admit defeat and that the Exide accumulator is well and truly unable to hold a charge so what I am now toying with is the idea of stuffing it with a Cyclon rechargeable battery.

I didn't really want to rip the plates out of the accumulator but can't see any other way to make space for the Cyclon which will be glaringly on display if I do.

I was toying with the idea of putting photos of the plates inside the glass but has anyone got any other suggestions on making a presentable/displayable device?

I did it with an Exide and a Cyclon, I used black card to hide the Cyclon, looked OK.

Hello Dave, no so much about stuffing but I have successfully sorted 2 very dead batteries, at first they did not attain the full voltage the first time but discharging them to totally flat and then recharging them 3 times and they have come up and retain a full charge. Just a thought.

Thanks Geoff. It is definitely dead-dead. If it comes to it I might take the plates out and try to store them seperately rather than machine holes through them to take the Cyclon.
