Default Rewiring a vintage chandelier

Hi there, I have just inherited a chandelier that belonged to my grandad and his dad before him. Suspiciously it was taken down last year and he had forgotten why... So now that he has gone and I have no clue as to why, I don't want to risk this going on my ceiling before a rewiring. I was wondering if anyone could help or at least point me in the right direction?

My great grandad was an electrical engineer and he no doubt did the wiring back in the 30s/40s so it probably needs doing. I doubt it's earthed even. I'm London based and don't drive but a friend of mine does so I may be able to travel around the south east or can drop anywhere in London or surrounding area...

If you don't get any joy here a lamp shop might well be able to do this?

i Used to be in the lighting trade years ago and we had quite a few vintage lights through to rewire , our resident electrician used to do this , so id say most electricians would be able to carry out this job .
