Thanks for the reminder, this is one of my few remaining 'regular' rallies of the year. Small but mighty.

I guess the highlight for me was the Hellschreiber machine. Don't think it sold.

A lot of people wandered past, looked at it, but didn't know what it was. I half way wondered about buying it for the MoC.
I'd been doing some work at the stables near Jed, when the rain started so thought I might just as well take a couple of hours and go up to the rally. No time to get poshed-up so went as I was. There was a good number of people, good blether and plenty of stuff around. It's always been a decent rally, and I have fond memories of its predecessor in the Tait Hall in Kelso. Oh, there wasn't a price I could see on the Hellschreiber, just a sign saying 50% to RNLI. Te guy at that stand spotted the RNLI logo on my sweatshirt and had me figured for a likely purchaser. But where to put it? the museum's a bit space-limited. David

I was planning to go and then SWMBO went down with Covid early in the week leading up to it and although I didn't (knowingly) catch it myself I felt it would be irresponsible to mingle with a crowd who, for the moment at least, would mostly be older than myself.
First time I've missed it for years. |
