Sony 7F-74DL
I have one of these early Sony transistor radio’s. I got it from an action site. The band select switch needed fiddling to get it to work on any given band but once you’d got a given band it would work. FM was perfect, good clear audio but all the am bands sounded poor. A sort of distortion like however you tuned it to a station, it sounded slightly off tune with that unpleasant distortion. Yesterday I decided to have a go at sorting it with visions of aligning and replacing capacitors etc. I used switch cleaner and tried it. My word, what a transformation. Good clear audio. Perhaps I’m inexperienced in such matters but it surprised me the difference a simple switch clean has made.

Re: Sony 7F-74DL
I have one with an intermittent on-off switch, which, as you know is pull-on, push off. Externally applied switch cleaner has helped but it really needs an internal squirt! Nice sets, I even have the external amp/speaker for car use.
