Default Small (8" * 6.5") panel with dial etc

Trying to thin-out some junk and a couple of items seem telephone-related but I have no idea if they are of interest. Might just turn out to be a source of BA screws...
The panel has a red, green and white light (6v wedge lamps) two push buttons and three key switches - one "lockable".
Some labels refer to "tape"?

Certainly some handy parts on it if nothing else.

Maybe it was from a location where telephone calls were recorded.

Ah - that would make sense, and probably explains the other hunk of junk which contains a number of relays plus a Carpenter high speed type. Will post pictures of it tomorrow.

Indeed. It's the "J BELL" which gives it away. Sending this character caused a bell to ring at the distant teleprinter to attract the operator's attention.

The tape would have been a punched paper tape.

Duh! Now I remember - it came from an old ICI explosives factory where I occupied a building in the 70s-80s. I also acquired the associated Creed 7B and used it for several years for RTTY.
The relay unit I mentioned was in the large grey box under the desk shown halfway down this page:-

I remember going on a day's course on how to set up those Carpenter bipolar relays [and coming away with the relevant set of feeler- and tension-gauges].

Thankfully in the early-1980s they were replaced with sealed relays and/or solid-state flipflops [using CV7004 and CV7007 transistors].

That relay rack is the same (but with different functionality) as those in the control section of a Marconi B6122 / BD272 HF transmitter. There were three mounted side-by-side.

And they used Carpenter relays! In the valve and HT overload circuitry. Still got some tension gauges kicking around somewhere.
