Question HMV Radiogram ID?

Can anyone identify this HMV radiogram I saw in a charity shop, today?

I didn't think much of it when I first saw it, but it started to grow on me – it's quite dinky as radiograms go.

HMV Stereomaster. Not sure which model. Looks to be fitted with a Garrard 3000.

This is capable of a good performance despite it small size. It is likely that the amplifier will need attention. the Garrard autochanger, if not working well, will be a simple fix, the 4 speakers should be OK and the cabinet just needs some TLC.

They were very good in the day if I remember correctly the speakers tended to disintegrate, the foam turned to dust, and they had a very good Sonotone 9ta cartridge. Mick.

I'm pretty sure it's a HMV Stereomaster 2328.

Thumbs up Re: HMV Radiogram ID?

Thanks for the responses, everyone. It certainly looks like a 2328 (I didn't notice if it had speaker grills at the side), and the service sheet states that it was fitted with a Garrard 3000 autochanger. Shop was asking £50 which is optimistic - I'd be surprised if it went for that! Still, it might take someone's fancy…

I think £50-00 is too high, if it's completely untested. And I also forgot about those Foam Surrounds!

Yes, a model 2328 Stereomaster. I remember these from my childhood in the mid 1960's. A friend of our family had one, and I recall the excellent sound reproduction it was capable of. I was fascinated by it! When I saw one listed on ebay a couple of years ago, I had to have it. Now, after David - FERNSEH - has worked his magic on the amplifier, it is awaiting reassembly. Wellington - please go and make an offer on the one you've seen, and make a project of its restoration! I'd love to know what you think about the result!

The sound these produce is suprisingly good, more than the sum of their parts.
