Default 2011 Scottish Meet

I was wondering if anyone had thought about organising next years meet?
I am afraid due to being out of work I will need to bow out, surely someone would accept the challenge.

Right enough Mark, I do have some space to accomodate a few folk. Certainly, anyone from the vintage fraternity is most welcome, anytime. However, if guys with the same SatNav as Trevor - punch in my postcode - they might baulk at the remoteness of rural north Aberdeenshire.(Just a private joke between me & Trevor).
Probably somewhere in the Stirling, Perth, Dundee is handy for many Forum/BVWS guys. If not Edinburgh or Glasgow cities themselves. The venue and rental/insurance are a problem if a town is chosen. The Ham guys in Aberdeen have a great arrangement for a decent sized Scout Hut. If there was enough interest, I could ask them nicely if they could help out. Dont think my membership has run out yet.
But, if fresh air is what is desired, aswell as good home kewkin,(I'll even throw in some gun-dog training), then AB53 it is.

Regards, David

As intimated to Trevor at the last 'do' Margaret and i would be more than happy to hold an event here (NE23) but may not be far enough North for some of the really northern folks?.

Let me know what you think.

I have been collecting/restoring for 50 years so something of interest for everyone, a warm welcome would be extended to any anyone interested if the location is suitable.

That's a bit closer to civilisation
I could come up there and see some old muckers at the same time.

Hi Mike

I'd be well happy with the Newcastle venue.

Alan, Dont think folk in the rich Oil capitol of Europe - Aberdeen - would class themselves as uncivilised. However, I do appreciate that we're just that bit too far north for most Forum Guys.
A question - How many folk up near Aberdeen are interested in a mini-Swap Meet? Hopefully we could get-together before Fidobsa leaves us teuchters & bogs off to France.

David,
I'm sure you know that I was pulling your leg
Aberdeen really is a long way for most of us unless it can be combined with some other activity. Newcastle just happens to fit in with me 'cause I know people there, so I can combine visiting them and sampling the beer with a 'meet'.

Alan.
You could meet some new "muckers" up in Aberdeen.
Anne's cooking is great too (nearly as good as my Anne's ) David's place is cracking and he will make you most welcome.
It is also a great drive to Aberdeen, then its interesting to David's place, go on Alan go for it!

Hi All

Depending on dates etc I can probably make it to either location. I guess they are about the same distance from here. Does seem a bit odd to have a "Scottish Meet" in Newcastle but I suppose we are all a bit odd here.

Regards,

Ken.

Hi to all, I don't wish to step on anyones toes, but I could do this next year. I am in Fife which is about 90 miles from Aberdeen, about 90 miles from Kilmarnock and about 130 Miles from Newcastle. My workshop is a little bigger than Trevors and I could accomodate a similar number of people. Please let me know what you think and please bear in mind no passports required. This venue may be a bit more central and I look forward to hearing your comments. Best regards, Norman

Great idea Norman, No more than a couple of hour's drive or so for most Geordies & Jocks, not to mention an exiled Scouser in northern Aberdeenshire.
Prahaps in the springtime, before the roads get too busy with tourists.

Go for it,Guys, David

This is excellent news! at least a couple of ideas have come up for the 2011 Scottish meet which on the whole makes more sense than a Newcastle venue,my original suggestion of holding it here (Newcastle) was to try and ensure that all the good work done by Trevor did not go to waste as organising any new events of this type take a huge commitment.
