Default Clare V154 PAT details

My Clare V154 portable appliance tester is showing a fault lamp. Has anyone got a diagram or any info on this item please?
Its portable by virtue of a handle, would not like to carry it far.

It seems Clare are now part of Seaward, also there doesn't seem to be much infomation at all for old Clare stuff on the web, but I did find the instructions for the later Clare A252 which also has a supply fault lamp.

http://www.seaward-groupusa.com/down...2%20manual.pdf

Here is what the A252 manual says about the supply lamps (from page 11);

Quote:
Supply Lamps these two lamps, 1 amber and 1 red, are used to indicate the condition of the Incoming supply. It is important that the external supply circuit is correctly wired and provides a sound earth connection for this instrument.

The amber lamp must be ON whenever the instrument is connected to a live mains supply. If the amber lamp fails to glow AND / OR the red FAULT lamp is ON there is likely to be a connection fault on the supply socket - such as reversed polarity of Line and Neutral or no Earth connection at the supply socket.
Disconnect the instrument immediately and have the supply fault investigated and corrected, by qualified personnel, before re-using the suspect socket for either this instrument or any other tool or appliance.

NOTE
If neither lamp glows, check that the supply is ON - if it is ON check the wiring of the A252 plugtop and fuse.
Failing this, the fault is within the instrument. It must be withdrawn and thoroughly investigated and corrected, by qualified personnel, before carrying out any appliance testing.
Looks like the fault could be caused by either; the mains lead/plug to the tester, a fault in the tester, or the mains socket/supply.

Hope this helps.

The fool strikes again.

The failure of the Clare PAT is due to no earth connection on the supply.

The reason?
This idiot had it on his lamp limiter, just in case.
Forgetting completely that the lamp limiter is fed from the isolation transformer, Duh!

Proves that the transformer has no earth through connection, which I knew.
Sam.
