Hi Glyn

Yes, the output transistor does get quite warm, as does the LOPT.

I had another look late last night and there are a couple of electrolytic caps that also appear to get quite warm - This cannot be right.

Will have another nose around with the scope later on, and see if I can find anything amiss - not sure why the caps should be getting warm - the test ok for shorts. and hold a charge.

If those caps are getting warm perhaps they are calling out "change me".

Agreed, and I have (although with what I had, as opposed to exactly the right thing)

I rather wonder if said caps are receiving an unhealty quantity of AC - I will look again later
