Sobell 430
I got this set from Thermionic over a year ago now.
Originally I thought this was a gram chassis re-housed. But looking at the set in detail I think it manufactured this way and the inconsistencies are just due to a very nicely done restoration. I have never seen a 430 before but have several examples of the 439 which has the same chassis. The label inside the cabinet is hard to read but pretty sure its model 430 Cheers Mike T

Re: Sobell 430
An unusual set. AC/DC and only four valves. Does it manage without the usual double diode/triode audio amp stage?

Re: Sobell 430
It manages by using a fixed frequency (IF) regenerative detector. There'll be a bit of conversion gain from the mixer followed by the equivalent of an 0-V-1 so it would be fine for local stations and not too unselective with three tuned circuits
