Royal Navy Type 607 Transceiver - or family
Does anyone know anything about the Type 607 Transceiver or the Type TV5.
I have been involved in the restoration of the ss Freshspring - a 'vintage' Navy water carrier launched in 1946, which the Bideford restoration society has obtained and is in the process of complete restoration - see web site www.ssfreshspring.co.uk. I have been tasked with locating the comms equipment to see if we can obtain something to install in the wheel house for visitors, especially school children to see (does not matter if it works) it's just for show. Any help out there would be so appreciated. |

Re: Royal Navy Type 607 Treansceiver - or family
Looking at the description and photo that AC/HL linked I see that the TV5 had a similar function onboard, as an emergency set, to the more common US Lend-Lease TCS station which was used extensively by the RN and also by the RAF as a ground station.
TCS gear is far more common than a TV5, it "looks the part" and can often be found in working order so it might be worth considering as an alternative? See: http://www.navy-radio.com/xmtrs/tcs.htm Regards Roger Last edited by G3VKM_Roger; 2nd Apr 2019 at 6:43 am. Reason: Added link |

Hi,
The RN Museum at HMS Collingwood has details of Type 607. http://www.rnmuseumradarandcommunica...07/type607.htm The CR300 receiver is available from time to time but the TGY transmitter is going to be a problem. Good Luck

I agree, and the power supplies won't be common either. It's a mighty beast for relatively low power out. Looks a little like the Rees-Mace 618 (?) set-up which probably superseded it.
