Default Possible slowness last night and this morning

Apologies if you noticed the forum was slower than normal overnight or this morning up to around 10am this morning. There were issues with my ISP's DNS servers that meant any DNS lookup the server or software on it did took several seconds instead of milliseconds.

They are on the case, and I have switched to Google's public DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) for now. I may stick with the Google ones as they are resilient distributed clusters.

Thanks for your hard work with this Paul, though I have to say I haven't noticed any problems from my end.

That's good news. I wasn't on here much over that period. It would probably only show up if the forum needed to send an email, such as when sending a PM, replying to a thread that people have subscribed to, or reporting a bad post. vBulletin doesn't seem to need to connect to anywhere else otherwise (unlike Wordpress...).

There are also ongoing Plusnet problems this morning which will affect some people.

I had some sort of problem a day or two ago, for about 15 to 20 minutes I was getting a server not found message, while all the other sites I tried worked OK.

This may have been something else due to my location however.

It can be periodically slow overnight (various times between midnight and 4:30am) due to the server running various backups and updates etc. These are deliberately set to run at quiet times.
