Racal/Amplivox 'Astrolite' headsets
I've acquired several used examples of these over the years. A few bear the tag 'WR 721' on the earphone housing as in the picture. One or two others have the tag on the microphone amplifier. I don't think it's anything to do with the amp as the part numbers are quite distinct. Does anybody know what WR 721 means or care to venture a guess ? Thankyou.

Re: Racal/Amplivox 'Astrolite' headsets
CAA approval number? WR = Wireless Receiver?
Eg: Not a wireless receiver in itself but part of a system insofar as WR covers anything comms? (WR number near bottom of 2nd page): http://www.avionteq.com/Document/B69...tion-Sheet.pdf EDIT: Here you go: http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapp...&AppNo=WR00721 And the search page, choose WR from the identifier box, then enter the number in the number box: http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapp....aspx?appid=23 Lawrence. Re: Racal/Amplivox 'Astrolite' headsets
I have a pair of those labelled up " Avley Cybervox" shock I think came from an old language lab. I converted them to stereo and used a 5 pin din connector so I could also use the mic.

Re: Racal/Amplivox 'Astrolite' headsets
Thank you Tim and Lawrence. Amazingly the approval date of 14.01.71 is three days older than me! I also have a headset with the Cybervox tag - agreed likely to be an ex-language lab item. We certainly used Astrolites with our Tandberg lab in high school. It's a shame Esterline no longer make them. Expensive but durable and lots of adaptable configurations possible.
