cannot find much information about this set. It works fine but which one is THAT capacitor? needs to be x2 class?

That cap according to Radio and TV servicing is C39, a 0.005uf, not an X2, but it does have full mains on it so 450v working. Also look at MR1 diode.

Given its low value and what was in my A172, "that" capacitor may well be a ceramic type and perfectly OK..... here's hoping.

Worth checking. It should have a high voltage on one side and no DC on the other. Best changing it, but if you wish to check, pull out the O/P valve and check Pin 5 to Deck.
As this set is AC only, the valves will be in parallel. Cheers, Steve P.
