Hi Jim

Sorry I cannot make the 22nd June, as I will be at a classic car event in the Midlands.

Just a quick bump and update.

Sorting out my unwanted stuff is proceeding well.

About 11 people so far wish to come and rummage. There'll be more than enough stuff for another 5 or more to come and fill their bags several times so if you missed the initial notification here's another opportunity.

I'll post again before the day, June 22nd.

Sadly, this event clashes with Ham Radio 2019 in Germany... Hope it goes well for you all though

Sean, sadly I didn't think to look so far afield for competing events when I chose the date. Hope you have a successful day there.

I'm sorting out stuff that I've had for 30 years or more. Domestic, military and amateur radio parts, books and manuals. Anything that doesn't find a new owner will have to go to the local council tip, very regrettably. I didn't spend all these years collecting stuff to do that but it's the only choice left if I can't give it away. We'll see!

Dear Jim, I would love to make it over and I have relatives who live in Brighton, I might be able to go, but not sure yet as I live far away.
Otherwise, please don't take stuff to the tip, I would gladly take stuff from you if you would consider boxing it up and sending it to me, I would pay for shipping of course.
I think it's sad to see good equipment going to the dump. I believe in re-cycling/re-using and saving our precious environment.

Hi Greg,

You'd be very welcome here if you can make it. Believe me I don't want to take it to the tip but I have so much in parts and components that I can't get on with other hobbies.

I really don't want to pack and parcel it, I've packaged hundreds of parcels and it requires a big effort, firstly to find suitable boxes and cushioning material, then do the actual packing and then stand in the PO queue or be on tenterhooks whilst waiting for a courier to arrive. A lengthy procedure!

If you have a relative here who could visit as your proxy they could send you pics and collect on your instructions, that might be a method.

There will be hundreds of valves of all shapes and sizes, (no PX4s sorry) new capacitors, transformers, solid state stuff, a few speakers, all vintage and ex military components.

The plan will be that people can arrive, look around the stuff and on seeing what they might like immediately put it into their bag, no need to ask. Everything will be there for the taking.

12 days to go. At the end of this week I'll supply my address to all who have indicated their wish to come.

If the weather is good it will be out on the patio where there is a lot more room than in the garage.

Ok Jim, Thank You for kind reply,

Let me see what I can do regarding getting myself over there, or make another logical arrangement, but whatever happens, don't tip stuff, you'll only break my heart, quite possibly your own, and thousands of others.

I'll PM you in future OK.

Thank you, Greg.

Hi Jim,

Generous as ever! I can’t accommodate any more ‘stuff’ myself, so I won’t be coming, but best wishes and I hope you have an empty garage at the end of the day.

Thanks Phil and good to hear from you.

Iím trying to sort out transformers. The trouble with stuff like that is if you pack them tidily away you end up with far too many to lift. Iím thinking of keeping about 15 which should satisfy every project I might think of. That leaves far too many to count and nowhere to put them until the big day.
I haveít the room I had at the previous house.

Thanks for your good wishes. Best to C.

Tomorrow, Saturday 15th I shall put some photos of the 'stuff' on here and send my address by PM to all who have decided to come. If I miss anybody please remind me. Because of lack of space I shall show the pictures as individual blocks, I won't be able to put it all out for mass viewing until the day of the event. It will all be ready by 11.00 am start time. There will be masses of interesting components both new and used.

In addition to the purely radio parts which I will show tomorrow I am including 2 brand new still boxed outside mains lights of the type that would be stood on a pier or wall. A new boxed large ceiling fan by Wickes, ideal for a conservatory, a wall mounted NOBO electric heater, probably a four drawer filing cabinet and a quantity of hand tools. All FOC

Jim - what sort of things will you have? I'm in Cornwall but there's a chance I'll be visiting a friend in Lewes that weekend so it could be worth my while coming over!
