Default TP 41 - How to fix the wooden cabinet

Hello guys

Thanks for all the great posts. I've been reading in here on and off for some years now.
Now I finally have a question - and trust me, I've been googling for an answer, but without any luck.

I own a Tandberg Portable 41 which is in good condition, but the wooden case has some flaws that I want to fix. I'm not a DIY kind a guy so I don't even know which wood it is made of. Can someone guide me in the right direction and is it even possible to fix? I think it is maybe waterdamage.
