utility set cabinet label
Hi Everybody
I am not sure if this is in the correct section so feel free to move if needed I am in the process of restoring a wartime civvy (utility set ) I am sure that this has been discussed before but having stripped the case I have lost the label from the top , has anybody had any success in making reproduction labels/transfers and if so , just wondered if anybody had a spare and if they could tell me how to fix it to the case thanks in anticipation Peter |

Re: utility set cabinet label
You could use inkjet waterslide transfer paper but I find that the transfers, though initially good, tend to lift. Colour laser waterslide is possibly better. You can make them stick down more effectively by the use of gum arabic but this is not very easy to do without making a gluey mess IMHO. My preferred method is to print on the thinnest plain inkjet paper of quality I can find then stick to the cabinet using copydex or Spraymount adhesive. Either of these, when fully dry, resist finishes such as wax or Danish Oil (the latter looks good on wartime sets when flatted and waxed). If you want a copy of the label and/or the large back cover label by email, PM me.
Regards Tony |
