Mystery Transistor radio c1960. Identified as an RGD B58.
Anyone recognise this radio. Sorry about the photo quality they are just what was sent to me. I've never seen the set, but am told it has Mullard transistors and capacitors. It has a car aerial socket in the base. I understand the "Real Leather" case is removable
John.

Re: Mystery Transistor radio c1960
Hi Old John
Looks very like the RGD B58. Although pictures of the case and inside are shown on the radiomuseum site, a schematic isn't. Having said that, it can't be too difficult to find a typical design of that era. There has been a similar request on this site. It was suggested that a range of RGD radios used a similar circuit with different cabinet presentation. Chris |

Hello John,
Quite a distinctive set, it's an RGD B58. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/rgd_b58b_5.html If by any chance it's available, we've a member who was recently seeking one - https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=192557 Paul |

Thank you all for all your replies, I have passed on the news. My friend is getting into early Transistor sets while moving away from Televisions. I very much doubt he will want to sell it.
If I had to guess I would have said it was a Sony made in Ireland as they have the same odd knob layout, but I would have been wrong. Cheers, John.

It doesn't much resemble the Oxford, beyond the fact of their both having leather cases -
https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/heathk...ord_uxr_2.html - or the only other leathery Heathkit portable that's at all often met with in the UK, the UXR-1: possibly a US model found its way to you, I think they offered a wider range over there. Paul |
