Default Li-ion 17670

Does anybody know where I can buy 17670 Li-ion Cells?

Plenty of compatible chargers out there, but the Cells seem illusive.

Remember that "Li-ion" is not a single thing, so you need to decide which kind you want.

Well, I can't say what the exact Chemistry is, as even the Data sheet doesn't say,
but it won't be anything Modern and exotic like Li-poly ect.

The Cells I need to replace, are from a 1999-2000 Toshiba Laptop and have a
nominal voltage of 3.6-3.7. with Max charge voltage of 4.2, so pretty standard stuff for
old school cylindrical cells.

I would guess they are LiCoO2 which fits in with these being Sony Branded Cells of
that period.

17670 is an unusual size which I've never come across. Almost all laptops use battery packs built around 18650s.

Sadly, that is not an option here, it's a pretty tight fit even with 17670's.

I guess these must have been common in the past.
A quick Ebay search brings up dozens of compatible chargers without it seems any
reference to the 17670 Batteries themselves.

I think I have found a solution though, in the form of 16650's which are still available.

So a fraction smaller theoretically (which is handy) and actually 2000mAh instead of
the original 1500mAh.
Batteries are ordered, so will see how this works out.

And indeed it worked out pretty well.

Still a bit fiddly even with 16650's, so even if I had found the original 17670's
it would have been a very tight squeeze and probably would have ended up
bulging the plastic Battery Case somewhat.

So, original Battery Pack was 1500 mAh, and the new Cells are 2000 mAh,
so a 33% increase in capacity, give or take.

On the first test, the little Laptop ( Toshiba Libretto ff1100 ) ran for about
2 hours playing music on it's very small speaker.

This Laptop is Tiny.
Floppy Disk shown for scale.
