Output Transformer rewind:Ferguson 503AC
Can anyone repair the output transformer for this set? It has O/C primary as is common with these Push /Pull sets ,or so I am told!Alternatively,a recommendation would be good.

Re: Output Transformer rewind:Ferguson 503AC
I don't in any way wish to do Mike out of a job, but with nothing to lose it can be worthwhile to have a gentle probe around under the outer wrapper of an output transformer's windings.
I have on more than one occasion found that the thin primary winding wire is terminated to a tag or a much heavier 'leadout' wire, and the joint has failed through corrosion, rupture, or both. It seems that the early fluxes left a corrosive residue which can become active in damp conditions. Edward |
