Hello and welcome to the forums.

Is there a model number in the instruction leaflet?

I don’t have the technical spec for this radiogram, but I would guess that the sound quality is pretty decent.

These were excellent sounding units that came in a range of versions. They were compact, solidly built and featured 4 loudspeakers. Additionally there were 2 additional switched input sockets: one for a Radio - and one for a Tape or iPod/MP3 player. Highly recommended!

Nice deck too, the Garrard 2025TC. Depending on what cartridge it uses, it may or may not need replacing.

I had one in the 70s. Cartridge was a Sonotone 9205tc, and yes, for what it was the sound was respectable, not ear splitting but I liked it.

Yes, if you've got the space, this will sound miles better than a new all-in-one record player - though not as good as most hifi "separates" systems.

The Garrard record deck will almost certainly need servicing though.

The modern-ish plug and PAT(?) label on the lead suggests it's been used quite recently though.

Nick.

Well spotted Nick, I didn’t notice the PAT label.

Is that a PAT label, or just the colour code label common in the era?

If PAT it might suggest it had been used somewhere like student halls of residence, or commercial premises.

I posted a link to one of these for sale, identifying it as a Model 2417 but for some strange reason, my post has been removed. It had some good pictures of the unit too.
I was just trying to be helpful.

Your post was deleted because changes at eBay meant that the link in the post pointed to a completely different player. It has been reinstated with the correct link.

Hi Graham. Thanks for the explanation.
Hadn't noticed the location of the one for sale, it was more about getiing the model number and the pictures.

Please feel free to delete my posts and maybe just add the model number to the thread title.
Cheers. David.

I thought this model used the Garrard 3000 deck with the Sonotone 3509 (KS40a?) ceramic cartridge, but there could well be variations. These particular cartridge types are now starting to have problems with their internal electrical connections to the output pins, but replacements are available that should be able to be 'grafted' into/onto the slim head shell.

The deck in the photo does look like a 2025T or 2025TC though, but I agree about the cartridge.

I have collected this today and it is indeed an HMV Stereogram 2417. It all works apart from one speaker which looks like a rewire job but apart from that it's in decent condition.

Just to double check this, try an input on the switchable Radio or Tape sockets and see if you can get an output from both channels i.e. LH and RH sides. If you do, then the cartridge will be at fault and you can probably fix this yourself. It is highly unlikely that any of the speakers will be at fault.

When you say "rewire job" is there actually any disconnected wiring, or do you mean that you only get sound from one side?
If you're not sure about terminology, post a picture of what you found.
