Philips MKC341 "Chicklet" yellow capacitors
I am interested in any data on these axial polycarbonate caps, they were
contemporary to the Mullard C496 mustards, but seen less often. There is a similar looking Mullard C281 flat axial cap much later, but polyester. TIA |

Re: Philips MKC341 "Chicklet" yellow capacitors
They would not have been contemporary to said series with older designations but there could have been a small overlap (the system changed mid 1960's, though the old designations were sometimes printed in newer catalogues as a reference). Late mustards would have been in the 2222 311 series. Chicklets were in the 2222 341 series. The 2 digits following the series designation indicate the type of dielectric (MKC, MKT, possibly MKT-P, etc.), tolerance and working voltage. The last 3 digits indicate the capacitance.

Re: Philips MKC341 "Chicklet" yellow capacitors
Many thanks for the info. The 341 series do not appear in the Mullard consumer catalog,
perhaps due to cost or market, or not to conflict with Mullard types. Later versions of 341 moulding have the curved ends modified to a raised flat rim. I do not remember any defective 341 capacitors. Agree these are later than C496, which were replaced by C280 banded or orange dipped types, usually radial. |
