Default BVWS Sun 7th July Royal Wootton Bassett

Hello everyone,

It is less than two weeks now until the BVWS Royal Wootton Bassett meeting and auction on Sunday 7th of July.

Mike is busy sorting the stuff for auction, the process of lotting, photographing and listing has begun.

The table bookings are coming in fast so if you want to book a table then get in touch with him asap - auctions@bvws.org.uk

It’s the usual big auction with 300 lots. The Bring & Buy tables for the benefit of the museum will be there as usual. Plus many stalls selling a huge variety of equipment and bits and pieces..

The BVWS stall will be there stocked with high voltage electrolytic and polyester capacitors of all the types we need and use for vintage radio & TV and audio.

It's going to be another bumper day so mark it in your diary now.

Doors open at 9:30am for STALLHOLDERS

GENERAL OPENING for everyone is 10:00am

Auction start at approx. 12:30pm

The Kitchen will be in full swing with plenty of hot and cold food throughout the day.

See: http://www.bvws.org.uk/events/locations.php for location

Visitors are welcome, although you'll need to be a member to get a bidding number (so why not take the plunge and join on the day?) Debit/credit cards accepted for membership and auction purchases.

See you all there,

Looking forward to this meet as always looks like it might be a scorcher though

For those who wish to pre-prepare their Bring and Buy lables they are attached.

As always a polite reminder please remember to pick up any un-sold items even it donated to Museum or BVWS funds.

We really have nowhere left to store stuff

See you there

Another grand day out- even came home with less than I took thanks to the B&B. I won a nice little American Ferguson in the auction for less than I expected and lost the NiB HMV146 to someone with deeper pockets!

Mike was on good form and the bacon and egg butties were too!

Thanks to all that dedicated crew for their unloading, setup, portering, auctioneering, food, drink, B&B, cheerfulness, everything really, to make RWB such a great show, despite a slightly warm day yesterday.

In the auction, I sold a few items and won only one thing, a sweet little KW Valliant AM transmitter (late 60s probably), that might someday get back on the air.

The Bring & Buy yielded a few items. A rusty parts-rack I bought to use the trays as spares for broken trays at home, and a pair of small Avos that just wanted a new home!

Brilliant day out - thanks all!

I was rather restraint and came home with nothing. Off loaded one item in the B&B.

I was chained to the chair and could not raise my hand to bid. I have far too much junk and came home with nothing!

GREAT day out and thoroughly enjoyed the friends and company. There were some great TVs for sale at one of the stalls, plenty of receivers ideal for 'starters' such as the Sobell T346 and Ekco T221.

Thanks to everyone concerned in setting this event up. A great deal of hard work not always realized by the visitors. Regards, John.

Had a great day out and sold most of the items on my stall which left some room for new additions.
In the auction, I made off with the rather photogenic Pye HFT109 tuner (all it has to do is look good on the shelf - if there's space) and the monstrously heavy R210 Receiver and associated psu and amp, this set is a good SW performer.
Next stop Harpenden, see you all there,
Neil

I was very happy not to have to take that back home!

Do you have any use for the 2.2mH inductors?

Good to have made it down on a rare occasion where I am able to, and to see some friends there. Thanks to all the hard work of Greg, Mike and the team, it makes me feel proud to be a member of the BVWS.

A much enjoyable day and for once came back with a car significantly lighter!!

Bought a few miniature portable colour tellies and a selection of books and some vintage street light bulbs. I bought the Pure DAB/CD unit on the BVWS stall and managed to repair the faulty CD tray mechanism with some Lego!

Currently trying to repair a left behind auction lot miniature colour telly/radio/clock thing. Looks like it had a rather bouncy trip down the stairs given the major cracking on the PCB around the LOPT.

Perhaps that might feature as a "success story" thread - or at least in the modern technology section. I for one would be interested how Lego performs this feat.

Hello,

As always, it was a cracking auction and Sawpmeet at last weekends RWB. Thumbs-up to the BVWS crew!

I Bought a TSL Universal Sound Mixer from Jeremy’s (Pamphonica) stall. Jeremy reassured me it was made with the finest silver-plated cable, sonically burnt in jack sockets and Bakelite knobs with audio mojo, the icing on the cake was the much sort after Erie carbon composition resistors. He reassured me any audio source fed through the unit will widen the sound stage so much it’ll be knocking down the lounge walls. He originally asked £3000 given its sonic and audiophile virtues, but after some gentlemanly like haggling it was bagged for £3

I Bagged the Beolit 600FM in the action, alright, at top end of what I wanted to pay, but mind you this is a fine example of this lovely radio. I also bought the Dynatron Nomad and Ekco 208 from Neil’s (newlite4) stall.

Looking at the previous post, I’ll send a picture of a Lego turntable strobe I made a while back.

Regards
Terry

Auction results are now on the BVWS website here https://www.bvws.org.uk/auctions/res...ootton-bassett

I am still awaiting the results for the March 2019 Harpenden, and have asked Mike for them.
