Default North West Workshop

I am looking at organizing a workshop for the north west.
First I need to know the following
1. Who is interested?
2. what format?
3. you would need a set or two to work on and some caps, and preferaby a plug in RCD along with tools
4. Who will volunteer to be a guru?
5 What date?

I was looking at April, May, June time.

any comments?

Cheers Mark

I am certainly interested, but don't feel qualified to do any guruing. I certainly have a few sets to bring along - I assume we are concentrating on wireless sets. Also happy to bring along a couple of RCDs (one plug-in and the other built into an extension reel).

I assume you have a location lined up. If not, I have a possibility if people fancy a trip into the real North West (of England, that is - before I get complaints from north of the border).

I have a couple of venues in mind Dave. I guess domestic wireless, comms stuff and Tv's would be ok

I'll see if I can make it subject to holidays etc. I could give a teach in on transformers.

Thanks Sean and Ed, a teach in would be great for TX's rewinds and such. I shall be first in the queue Ed.
cheers Mark

Maybe, though 2011 is getting a wee bit full now. A trip over the mountains isn't a problem.

Depending on the date I might be able to make it. Bear in mind that May is NVCF time so that may have an effect on people's availability.

If I do come I can bring along some test gear. I might be prevailed upon to provide a little "guruness", especially if anyone needs help with duff test equipment.

I'd be interested...though I'm an utter newb. I don't have any knackered radios (yet ), but I do have some rather unpredictable y-axis modules for my solartron valve scope (and one or two which work, for comparison), and an untouched Ferrograph mono tape deck which came from a skip...could I bring them?

I don't see why not. Before this, there will be a North West Swapmeet at Golborne. Plenty of old radios there.

I will add a friendly warning here - don't get ripped off by 'Antique' dealers. There are plenty 50's woody's around so don't pay more than about £10 for one!

Cheers,

Steve P.

Dave and Brian, two good points, Brians offer of guruness is welcome.
Keiths TV has also made a very generous offer, but that is in the planning stage...so get planning Keith!

Mr Barker and the team are always welcome, especially if the components department is avalable!

As the Golborne meet will be in March next year, I was looking at April, so folks can grab some bargains in March and fix them in April.

How does that sound to everyone?

cheers Mark

Sounds good fun, I might be "free" of my current employer by then and have "more time to spend with my radios"!!

I have few items of test gear (inlcuding a 'scope) and am always willing to help out.
