Re: W.G. pye?
The "line" and "frame" settings imply that it was designed for TV use; the coaxial output-socket is a 'Pye-plug' which dates it to the era around WWII.
Pye made loads of RF "stuff" from the 1930s through the 1980s. Is there any other model-number or similar on the rear/ |

Re: W.G. pye?
Those bakelite paignton knobs were fitted to a wide variety of equipment so a replacement shouldn't be too hard to find. Note the main control increases when turned anti-clock!

W.G. Pye signal generator
Thank you for the info. I was given it today and I want to know more about the history of it and it's quite an interesting looking machine and has a mains input at the back.
The device also has a "mains voltage adjustment" terminal with two pins on the back, as shown in the photo below: |

Re: W.G. Pye signal generator
That looks like a mains connector.

Re: W.G. Pye signal generator
I expect that it means there is some sort of mains voltage selection (link or switch) accessible underneath the panel once the six screws have been undone- it makes sure (or at least less likely....) that it won't be meddled with the mains lead connected.

Re: W.G. Pye signal generator
Yes, transistors were still in the laboratory back then. Two, possibly three valves.
