Default Selmer - 1964-1973

I stumbled upon this interesting personal view of working for Selmer in the years between 1964-1973.

Nice site, I've repaired a few Claviolines and mum & dad had one in the early 70's which they gave away!

Enjoyed the Ronnie Wood Story! I've got a Clavoline that turned up at a Sambrook auction a number of years ago. Dave W

A working Clavioline is worth a fortune nowadays.

Yes it's probaly the Joe Meek factor! I remember the chap wouldn't negotiate at all on the price and put it in the auction instead. Then I bid it up to half what he had wanted originally. Dave

Hi,

I remember using a Selmer Goliath bass cabinet with a Marshall 100 Watt head, can’t fully remember the speaker used in the Selmer Goliath, but I think it was a 100W 18” Fane driver, whatever it got the old trouser legs flapping..!!

One of the first repair jobs I did when I first started work was to replace an output transformer in a Zodiac Twin 50.

I did encounter a few of the late transistor amplifiers in the final days of Selmer in the late 70’s – sad is to say they were not as good as the valve kit. Mind you, by this time HH had cornered the transistor amp market in the UK.

Terry.
