Default Murphy dial pointer

Just putting the finishing touches to my Murphy A46. Does anyone know what the original colour of the dial pointer was? Most images show a light (white?) colour, but that might be just the reflected light.

One has it red, and mine looks like it was dark originally, but it's hard to tell.

Maybe they varied anyway depending on production bathes.

Thanks,

Ian

Mine is light brown and looks correct as far as I know.

Thanks Hamish. I've looked at all the images I can find but nothing is very clear. It's a minor detail, but I'd like to know!

Ian,

Originally it was Silver.

Basically use wire wool on the pointer until it is bright and then lacquer it.

They go dark black/brown with age and they also rust!
