Default Dansette Gem case covering.

I have several Dansette Gems which are in very poor condition externally and I would like to recover them. The case is moulded glass fibre and it is covered in a material which by reading other threads is Rexine, but by examining the case it seems to be on there in one piece with no signs of joins anywhere. It looks to me as this was shrunk on? Does anyone know how this was applied or even what it was, as I would like to replicate it if possible. I have searched the internet and asked a number of Dansette repair services who say they don't know.

Any help would be appreciated.
