Default Removing speaker cloth from plastic

Hello to all,
I'm just new here & hope I'm in the right forum. My jukebox speaker cloth is glued to a perforated plastic former. What solvent can I use to remove the hardened glue as I want to re-use the formed plastic perforated sheet. I don't mind if the cloth is destroyed as long as it doesn't melt the plastic backing sheet. I need to glue my new cloth to the old plastic. Anyone done this sort of thing before? Regards, Dennis.

I'd be inclined to remove the old cloth first, as it doesn't matter if it's destroyed, and then deal with the residual cloth and adhesive. Lots of the old adhesives were based on animal hide, and therefore water soluble. How about water as hot as possible and one of those green kitchen scourers (the ones with the foam back)? If that fails, I'd go for medium grade sandpaper round a square wooden block, making sure it was always kept flat with the surface of the plastic. Any chance the former could be turned over, so you could use the other side? Just a few thoughts.....
