Ferguson 503Ac 1938
What material would the 8" diameter hole in the back have ben covered with in those days .I am making a new back panel.It allows air in for cooling and sound out too,I guess.It looks like a thin silk covering from photos I was sent.

Originally my 603 had a light weight silk fabric over the hole. This was rotten and falling apart, so I replaced it with a stained piece from a voile curtain
