Magnetron info.
The Philips Microwave model AVM914/AV has just packed up! The magnatron is short to earth, cannot complain though, it must be twenty or thirty years old.
No luck with search on Ebay. The customer didn't want it repairing, so I fitted a new magnetron It's lasted all this time. The number on the magnatron is AM723. I need to know is there an equivalent. Thanks, Mick. |

Re: Magnetron info.
I used to deal with AWI of Newport Isle of Wight. If they are still going I am sure they can fix you up at a sensible cost.

Re: Magnetron info.
www.magsells.co.uk list type MSM723 (for £43 +post +VAT) as equivalent to the same types as the AWI AM723.
They are at Newport Road, Cowes, Isle Of Wight. I wonder if they are connected to AWI. Last edited by G8UWM-MildMartin; 14th Oct 2017 at 7:03 pm. |

Re: Magnetron info.
Ah, that does indeed explain it. And the rest of the thread containing it is informative.
Thanks. |

Thank's for all the info, just ordered one from AWI. Fast and friendly service. Mick.

Re: Magnetron info.
I thought AWI would be the best bet, used them for years before we stopped servicing.
Microwave oven parts used to be expensive, now you can buy a cheap oven for the cost of a magnetron but the old ovens were more reliable. |

Re: Magnetron info.
Er, but AWI have closed. Presumably you meant Magsells, Mick?
