Default Wanted: AF126 PNP germanium transistor

Does anyone have any AF126 germanium transistors available for a receiver restoration I am doing?

You don't say how many you require. Plenty on eBay.

If AF138s might be a suitable equivalent, please drop me a PM. These are PNP transistors with four leads and are suitable for RF/IF stages.

Are you sure you don't mean AC126? That's a very common Ge audio preamp/driver in mid-late 60s sets before Si came in. Nothing special.

Thanks Graham, I've got a leaky RF mixer that's wandering with time and heat so I'm going to replace it with a BC559B and a 6.8K resistor from emitter to base to give the correct bias, as that's apparently a good replacement that is going to be more frequency stable and lower noise than a NOS germanium AF126 and its got the added bonus of not being 7 quid for one on eBay. its also got a couple of other AF numbered germaniums in the RF chain so i may as well just replace them and reduce the drift all the way through the receiver as i can get 10 of the new silicon transistors for 4 quid

Hi Paul

nope i definitely mean AF126,(from a 1966 Blaupunkt Bremen) but I've found a good modern replacement - see my reply to StationX, thanks for the reply anyway

I have three AF126's which you could have had at a reasonable price, but I see you've found an alternative solution.
