Servicing Radio Receivers column in PW
Between 1955-59 there used to appear in Practical Wireless a series of articles called Servicing Radio Receivers by Gordon King. The articles included the circuit diagram, a general discussion on how the set operated and because they were articles about sets which had already been released for a couple of years, a mention of any stock faults that could develop. They also usually included that elusive tuning cord drive! In many ways these articles could provide a substitute for a service manual.
These articles did not appear every month - they were an occasional series. Many years ago I started a list of the sets covered in the articles and recently rediscovered it, and thought it might be useful as a reference tool by forum members who have collections of PW. There are probably some omissions, as when I compiled it I did not (and still do not!) have a complete set of all PWs from the 1950s. The sets covered are: July 1955 Pye P43 Aug 1955 Ferguson 325 & 326 Sept 1955 GEC BC4850 Oct 1955 Double Decca 51 Nov 1955 Ever Ready Model C Dec 1955 Goblin S.25 Jan 1956 Vidor CN396 Feb 1956 Cossor 494U Sept 1956 Bush DAC 10 Oct 1956 Ferguson 203U Nov 1956 Marconiphone T24DAB Dec 1956 KB FB10FM April 1958 Alba 3211, 6221, 6241, 6251 May 1958 Cossor 529 June 1958 Cossor 544 July 1958 Ace TR257 Aug 1958 KB NG20 Sept 1958 Deccalian 88 Oct 1958 Decca 66 Nov 1958 Cossor 551, 552 Dec 1958 Cossor 546 Jan 1959 Regentone ARG70 Feb 1959 Regentone Double-Two March 1959 Bush VHF61 April 1959 GEC BC5842, BC9442, BC9640 June 1959 GEC BC5645 July 1959 Pilot Clipper |

Re: Servicing Radio Receivers column in PW
I doubt that PW would be particularly interested, but as mentioned in another thread some of the articles at least could possibly appear in one of Paul's future CDs if there is enough interest.
