Default MURPHY DAY at Mill Green Museum, WGC Herts.

Hi All,

This coming Sunday 10th September.

Once again we are staging the annual 'Murphy Day' at Mill Green Museum just outside of Welwyn Garden City just off the A1000.

The theme for this years display of Murphy Radio products is 50 years of 'colour' and 'coloured' televisions.

There will also be a selection of other Murphy Radio products on show and working.

The Museum is also hosting the annual Heritage open day and so the working water mill will be producing flour.
The main museum will be open as well as the hidden store building.
There will be various other organisations and craft stalls as well.
the Tea rooms will be serving lovely cream teas and other refreshments all afternoon.

The event is from 2pm to 5pm and there is plenty of parking around the mill.

Come and have a great afternoon. There are often a good number of BVWS and forum members there together with retired Rank Bush Murphy employees to chat to.

Mike...

Sounds like a great afternoon out. I'll be there (my first time) and SWMBO is coming along to enjoy the non-radio fun at the Mill, which will be in operation, grinding away. Perhaps the promise of a cream tea persuaded her?
So you all there tomorrow.
Jeremy

From the Website, so hopefully available. Join the queue...!

Sunday and Bank Holiday Cream Teas 2.30 to 4.30pm

Easter Sunday until the 24 September.

Our famous locally made cream teas are served with scones made on the premises from our own flour, a generous portion of jam and clotted cream and a nice cup of Fairtrade tea. There is also a large selection of homemade cakes and cookies, we even have some gluten free! Teas are served by volunteers and all proceeds support the museum.

I really must try and make this event, it's local and I'm a keen Murphy collector but alas I'm also into classic cars and this date always coincides with a show I enjoy.
I've decided I'm certainly going to make next year's one.

A very nice sociable afternoon out. As predicted, the cream teas made the visit even more acceptable to the wives. A good display despite poor Mike B having to avoid heavy lifting for a bit, which constrained the total tonnage a tad.
And the store in the Mill had a nice set of shelves full of dozens more bits of Murphy kit (transistor and valve), as well as a Marconi sig-gen and a B40 radio. This store is not normally open to the public.
A nice afternoon out! Thanks all.
