Default Deleting a thread.

I have this afternoon made an error when starting a new thread. I was about half way through writing the post when I clicked the "post" button instead of the "review" button.

When I have posted a new thread in the past I have noticed that (within 30 minutes ?) I could edit the post or delete if appropriate.

On this occasion I couldn't find the option to delete the thread, only edit it. Has the software changed in this respect or do I have a false memory of being able to delete threads. I do realize that when the edit period has timed out only a moderator can delete threads.

You can delete a post, but not a thread. Only the moderators can do the latter.

... and the first post of a thread can't be deleted without deleting the thread, as a thread can't have zero posts.

Thanks Dave, that must be the explanation. I presumably haven't deleted a first post before.

It is easy enough to use the report button to ask a moderator to delete it for you in the details pane that comes up.

Refugee's suggestion is the best way to get threads deleted.
