Aurora 500 raffle for Museum

Many forum members have at least one Aurora SCRF for running their vintage TVs. Recently Darryl made the 500th of these wonderful little boxes. To celebrate this landmark he has been most generous in donating the 500th Aurora to be raffled with all proceeds going to the Vintage Wireless Museum.

The raffle details aren't quite finalised but this is what I expect to happen. Tickets will be on sale for £2 each at the NVCF on Sunday and also at the Museum Garden Party in June. The draw will be at the Garden Party and we hope that the winner will be present to collect his or her prize in person.

I certainly can use all the Aurora's I can get my hands on! I won't be at either venue though due to finances, although I would buy a ticket if possible.

I'll certainly be buying a ticket or two. I already have a most superb Aurora but now I've got a few working 405 sets another would prove useful.

Yes, I'd be interested in a postal entry too if possible. It's a worthy cause and an excuse to get into old tellies, and that could open up whole new avenues of fun! What more could a person ask for?!

Don't have details yet but plans are being made for postal entry. This is likely to be the very old fashioned way of sending a cheque to the Museum with an SAE. Please don't send anything yet - I will make an announcement soon.

PS it might be an idea to have a closing date a couple of weeks before the garden party so any late entries wouldn't get the chance of winning!

Please enclose an SAE and a note with your name, address, phone and email. Please also mark the back of the letter Aurora 500.

Please ensure your cheque reaches the Museum before 22nd May.

Sorry about the foul-up at the NVCF. The raffle ticket book was forgotten

I think Malcolm Everiss took a few names and some money on the BVWS stall and they will be entered into the draw. Otherwise tickets will be available at the garden party or by post as previously noted.

It's not a "drop dead" date. Should be no problem provided postal applications reach the museum by 31st May.

Oh, that's a relief - I thought I had missed it.

It was a lovely day at the garden party. The total amount subscribed for tickets was about £260 and the winner was ticket 112, none other than Laurence Fisher, aka radiolot, who was present (along with wife, daughter and mother) to collect his prize.

A special thank you to Darryl for donating the 500th Aurora. I hope you will be able to vist the museum one day.
