BVWS North West swap meet
It is now just three short weeks to this event, on Sunday 20th November 2011 at Golborne Parkside, Rivington Ave Golborne.
Several tables have been booked and I thank those who have responded promtly. There will be (hopefully) light refreshments, a 405 line TV display courtesy of Russ and many things to buy. Talking of buying, Dave Moll has again agreed to run the Bring and Buy Table to support the Wireless Museum in Dulwich. (Thanks Dave)! Mike Barker and the team will again be attending, representing the BVWS with components for sale, and probably other goodies from the store. This is the only BVWS event in the North of this green land, so I would ask you give your support to ensure it's continuance. There will also be the resident guru to offer advice and assistance in repairs Table holders at 830am doors at 930-10am. Non BVWS members are welcome as there is the opportunity to join on the day. Whilst I have rambled about this meet my thoughts are with those that are unable to attend, especially Igranic, who has always been a supporter of the event. Best wishes Edward and to David Boynes. Kind regards Mark |

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
I'll be there - chatting to messrs Bodgit and Scaper [sic] as usual.
Have to look and see if there's anything I can take for Dave's stall. It won't be quite the same with Edward not being there so we'll be thinking about him, and David of course.

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
I'm planning to be there with my brother [Phil the driver]. I've toyed with the idea of a dedicated books and magazines stall. I did this once [only] at the Elvaston Castle Rally in the eighties and it was very popular. Would this be worth it? Clash with anyone? No promises at this stage though!

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
This is something we have never had before, so I don't see it treading on anyone's toes at all. Go for it!!
Cheers, Steve P.

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
Thanks for that positive vote chaps Can't commit just this minute but I'm now certainly heading in that direction and will get back to you Mark asap. I've had to come south at short notice and wont be back at the rammy "book centre" until the 14th ish but it's doable if my long suffering [non-technical but interested] brother will help.

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
Good idea, Dave.
As Ed says, I do wish folk would put name badges on as I often pass by members whom I've never met face-to-face but would like to. I can also remember who I am as well ...

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
Mark could arrange an "encounter group" where we sit in a circle and say hello to the person on the right........but badges are probably simpler.

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
At one NVCF (the one with the vintage TV display) we agreed a forum meet-up at a specific time and place during the day which worked very well. Something to consider perhaps? Early-mid afternoon is probably good as people will have finished browsing and eating by then.

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
Hi All,
Yesterday we went out to collect over 200 radios and assorted other radio items. The BVWS store is Bulging at the seams and the van is still full. I will be bringing up a big pile of this stuff to Golborne which will include Radio, TV and Comm's RX equipment. Don't miss out on getting some good stuff. We have more than enough stuff for two Wootton Bassett auctions as well as this stuff on the van, plus we also have a huge collection in Cambridgeshire to go and get before the end of the year so come and help me make some space by buying something. It won't be Junk ! Mike...

Re: BVWS North West swap meet
Thanks to my brother, the book stall should appear. Lots of all one price stock with the aim of actually passing stuff on rather than just exhibiting it. Should be quite a few mags. Possibly a set of quality bound Newnes service volumes. Phil may have a Ferograph or two and I might add some bits of hardware myself. Prices will be grouped and reasonable [I think]. I don't get back to Rammy until mid-week so you might have to bear with us in our confusion . We are going to see the Zimmermen on Sat night as well [electric Dylan] at our local pub, so we could be a bit jaded!
See you there-bring money-no Euros. Dave W Mark I didn't think anyone would take the encounter group seriously, or that there was a precedent! Badges would still be good I think but no pressure for anyone who would rather be incognito. |
