Default Ferguson FV20B Problem

Hi
New member here saying Hi and also asking for help.

I've recently got a Ferguson FV20B and it was working fine last week and went to use it again today and all its doing is loading the video then forwarding all the way to the end of the tape then ejecting, if the tape is alreadya t the end then it just constantly accepts the tape then ejects it again.

Would anyone have any Ideas whats up with it?

Cheers
Luke

Two common issues. Firstly (and I bet this is what is wrong with yours) is the front panel switches. They get oxidized and give false commands. Easy enough to fix.

Secondly I have had a carriage fault giving odd symptoms as the tape was not sitting right. I fitted a new carriage, but on removal saw that the felt clamping pads in the old one had just slid a bit. Easy fix.

But I suggest looking at front panel buttons first.

Also try cleaning the mode switch of the mechanism.

Oxidation or bad connection to ground through the mode switch would be my guess...
