Default R1155/T1154 Racal Oscillator 9417

In a box of R1155 parts I have found a Racal oscillator, looks like a plug in unit for the T1154 transmitter, taking the place of a valve, with a British 5-pin base.
Does anyone have any further information on this unit, I would like to use it if possible.
What has happened to GV4CU who supplied spares for these radios? Anyone taken over from him?

Any chance of a piccy? Sounds like an interesting bit of rework by someone given that Racal didn't even exist when the T1154 was in production.

G4CVU might be a more useful search term..... but this thread may be more helpful still:

I have a Racal "Frequency Standard 9420" which is a square section grey box with a 7 pin plug built into the bottom, looks like a valve base plug. Mine is a 5 MHz unit and they are an ovened crystal oscillator used in lots of Racal kit of around the 70s/80s. I believe they were also an optional part in some things which did not have ovens in their basic form, and were no doubt available in different frequencies.

I don't think you'd get that in a 54, so guessing its for some other bit of kit.

That's an enormous crystal- looks like it could be a 100kc/s refrence of some sort.

"Racal Electronics" was one of the older iterations of the Racal radio business which probably dates the unit to the '50s sometime.

The 10V reference suggests a military application, I think.

Re: T1154/Racal Osc. 9417
This item was made for use in T1154, which were used in the 1960's for fixed ground use, ie remote weather beacons etc. It is a direct replacement for the osc.valve.

That sounds like experience speaking!

Another interesting snippet to add to the mountain of arcane information buried in here.

Do you know what frequency the unit generated?
