Philips 834A volume pot
Does anyone know the correct value and wattage of the volume pot for this set?

Re: Philips 834A volume pot
From the Philips service sheet, the volume control appears to comprise R1, R15 and R18 which are given as 1200, 300 and 330 ohms respectively.
This thread in a German forum gives an image of the device (scroll down) and some idea of the complexity. https://radio-bastler.de/forum/showthread.php?tid=10661

Re: Philips 834A volume pot
It's basically a tapped wirewound pot. Ben_Dijkman who is a member of these forums used to supply new inserts for these pots. He may have some left. Look him up in the member section and send him a PM him with the model number of the set and the values of the pot (there are different types).

Re: Philips 834A volume pot
Ben supplied me with one of these controls many years back. It is not in the audio stages of the radio, but in the "front end".
Not sure if it is true or not, but someone told me once that these devices could be replaced by other components (can not think of how that could be achieved)? |

Re: Philips 834A volume pot
It's much the same circuit as the Philips 234 by the look of it, and indeed the control is more like an R.F. Gain pot than a true volume control
