Pye Fenman2 Wavechange Switch Replaced
Hi all,
Well, I finally plucked up courage and did it. Overall, it took quite a few hours to do and was a right Someone said they thought the set was built around the switch and I think they were right! I got a spare wavechange switch from Steve Bell - Thanks Steve for the old chassis and switch That was a few weeks ago and it's taken me this long to phsych up. Luckily, only the outer wafer of the switch was damaged. If the inner wafer had needed replacing, that would have been even harder to do. I made little labels for each of the wires as I disconnected them from the damaged wafer. I also made copious notes and drawings. It was extremely fiddly and I had to remove L1 and L2 to get enough room to manouver the wafer into place on the threaded rods. Paul Stenning's service data was a big help. The set's now working well again. The only slight mishap was that I accidentally crushed one of the dial lamps so i now need to get a replacement from somewhere. Over the years, I've constructed lots of stuff but repaired comparatively little, so this was a real test for me and I'm really pleased with the result. Time now for a few All the best Aub |

Glad you got it sorted Aub - not a task I would like to take on.
But, the Fenman 2 is worth the effort, I think you'll agree. Steve. |

Well done! This reminds me of my own Fenman 2 sitting on the workshop floor . Worked one day and not the next! Josh.
