Hi Chris,
Glad to hear the receiver is up and running. I believe that leaving C3 and C4 out will be acceptable in a domestic environment (unless your "other" hobby involves the regular stopping and starting of large induction motors, compressors and the like!) If you think the audio may be a bit low on the receiver it is worth renewing the electrolytic decoupling capacitor on the cathode of the output valve - maybe this has already been done. cheers

Hi Peter. With the caps no longer present the set seems fine had it on for six hours yesterday without issue . Now begins the checking of components cleaning of the bandswitch etc . I had to resolder some connections on the cable from the power supply to the receiver not much room to work in there. Considering the receiver hasn't been touched it works well the BFO works but it's not as it should be all in all further investigation should sort that . Thanks for your help I shall post up when it's finished .
