The gold ones fitted to early Panasonic videos were exciting when you replaced them with lots of banging and hissing.
The other VCR favourite was on the Hinari / Sentra / Solavox machines that caused the machine to shut down when it failed. We changed them, but there was a mod to prevent the machine locking up - just a resistor. This meant you didn't need to change the capacitor but could still charge the same...
