Default 'Boots Supertone Seven' - any idea on this radio's history?

The radio is marked as title - a 'Boots Supertone Seven', presumably a custom build or rebrand of another radio for Boots The Chemists in the UK. Surprisingly despite it's very used condition it works brilliantly, not even needed any Servisol - currently got it next to me listening to the Champions League footie commentary on 5Live.

It takes one PP9 battery, LW/MW reception, fairly simple looking circuit in the radio (see pic), all wooden cabinet (though I suspect its veneer on some sort of chipboard as it's not very heavy), not too bad a sound either.

I've never come across one of these before and seen only one hit on Google - showing this radio with a metal grille and dark red leather/rexine covering? Uploaded a picture of that set too to compare.

If anyone could shed any light on this it would sate my curiosity! I'm under no illusions though, very much doubt this is worth anything!

From the front, the Boots Supertone Seven radio has the look of the following: Philips L2G41T, Cossor CR1310T & the Stella ST415T, all of which used the Plessey chassis.

Not owning the Boots model I can't confirm that the Boots one has the same chassis, perhaps you could advise if your Boots model uses the same chassis.

See pics.

It certainly looks similar internally to that last Philips pictures, it has a 'Celestion' speaker in it too, I'll re-upload my pictures of the Supertone later. I'm not at home now but will also have another look at the Boots when I'm home
