Unknown set, & unknown logo [Ace]
Evening all,
Pictures attached of the set which has just landed my way. Even the owner, who's owned the set since the late 80's cannot name it. I don't recognise the set, the chassis or the logo. The set is LW/MW & VHF, has Home, Third & Light, so post-war, loudspeakers (woofer & tweeter) were made by EMI. I'm guessing the set is mid to late 50's, low level signal valves are Brimar, the FM one is an ECC85. Rectifier, a Mullard EZ80, output valve, Mullard EL84. There's a logo (also pictured), the back cover is a blank piece of hardboard with holes for the aerial(s), Pick-up & mains lead. No real clues I've spotted, aside from EMI on the loudspeakers. Any help gratefully received. Mark Last edited by mark2collection; 14th Sep 2018 at 5:32 pm. Reason: Cannot spell. |

Thank you guys, had never heard of Ace, the logo certainly makes sense.
A bit more delving required, Graces Guide doesn't give much away. Research all part of the fun. Mark |

Ace Radio Ltd, Tower Works, Tower Road, Pound Lane, Willesden, London, NW10 (in 1946 & 57). Established in 1937.
Maker of radios and radiograms and (in 1948) an electric floor polisher. Opened a factory in Rhyl, North Wales circa 1962 (or was it already an STC factory?). Acquired by Kolster-Brandes Ltd (STC) in 1962. The 1964 “Trader” Year Book shows their address as: Cefndy Road, Rhyl, North Wales. By 1964, part of the STC Consumer Products division (KB designs). There was at least one Ace TV fitted with the STC (KB) VC1 chassis. |

Pauls Service Data shows an Ace 357 and 361,your chassis layout looks very similar.
