Default BBC4 Houses programme

Anyone see that Wimbledon lightbulb collection? Apologies if it's already well known to forum denizens.

Not sure whether that EKCO TV was contemporary with the coronation- it looked a bit late?

That is certainly a very impressive collection of lightbulbs! The program is available on BBC iPlayer and the clip about them starts at about 47 minutes in. The program was also mentioned in the other thread about Pip Top bulbs.

The Ekco TV was from about 1955 but the set shown in the coronation picture was pretty typical of late 40s - early '50s sets - I was there.

That was an interesting programme, I liked the 50's house, did anyone spot the 405 line set fitted with a modern CRT set?

The set shown was an Ekco T330 cabinet from 1958/9 with a much smaller modern chassis fitted with a modified mask. More practical I suppose but I hope they kept the original guts. J.

Really sad when they ruin them like that, the 405 line picture on that model of set is lovely and sharp and the sound quality is amazing.
