I have had a good look all over, including the lid and I can find no other description or long serial number. If you look on ebay.co.uk at item number 150031332401 you will see some pics.

Cheers

I just got my Ferrograph CD from Terry Martini. In amongst the data sheets for theY532 and Y632 are two diagrams showing the upper chassis layouts of the record and replay chassis. Both are labeled "Data Sheet for Model RM-4-C & Y532 U/CC". So it appears mine is electrically identical to a Y532 but with a different fron panel arrangement.

That's a very interesting machine you've got there ruffrecords, although it looks like someone's repainted the case and lid.

Re the 633, thanks Reelguy.

What makes you say that?

Because on the item number site pix you gave above - if that's your deck, the case and lid look like a dark grey while the deck is the normal green.

All the YD machines I've ever seen, either in my possession or online, have had the case painted the same green colour as the deck.

I'm not knocking the recorder - merely posting an observation.....

You are absolutely right. I just checked the lid and where there is a scratch on it you can see the original green beneath. I wonder why it was repainted?

Yes, the CC suffix machines have a deliberately limited frequency response - the data I have for my Y632/CC tells me the HF rolls off around 10kHz, so not really suitable for hi-fi recording. If it's not a pristine original worth preserving as-is, you could possibly modifi the amps so they follow the domestic version's circuit, but that would be no small job...

From looking at the circuits of the CC and the domestic versions it appears the replay EQ is identical. The only difference is on the record amp where the LC HF boost circuit is missing in the CC version. This will lead to lower levels of recorded HF but replay of tapes recorded on domestic versions should sound correct.
