Just got 76 80-8 tascam ,however it wont play.Have had alook at the circuit board and tested most components with meter, but cant find problem. There are 3 relays which dont seem to be functioning, but surly all 3 cant be defective? The microswitch on the capston/no tape on takeup was bust will that effect things, doesnt seem to when used wire to replace switch. No bust fuses, any ideas

Re: Tascam 80-8 /wont play/
If the tree relays are not working then it would have to be a power source, do any of the other functions work? There is a sensor on one of the tension arms, this tells the recorder to activate the capstan (Which should spin in stop mode with tape in) if that isn't happening, check the logic supply and the micro switch, I have had many Teac’s of this particular age and the switches where horrible, had 4 or 5 go myself.
