Default TOEI MUSSAN - Flyback - Vector Monitor

Another strange one for you ......

Not strictly a TV I know, but worth a try if anybody here used to fix video arcade monitors in the 70's and 80's ?

TOEI of Japan produced a range of specialist vector video monitors in the early
1980's for arcade machines of the time.

Asteroids by ATARI uses a vector monitor for those who may not be familiar
with them.

Anyway, I have a cocktail (tabletop) arcade Asteroids game licenced to Taito
Taitronics (of Space Invaders fame).

This uses a 14inch vector monitor manufactured by TOEI MUSSAN CO LTD of
Japan and it requires a new flyback (apparently).

I have attached a copy of the schematics of the chassis.

Can anybody help me out with this please ?

Thanks,

Gavin

You haven't said what's wrong with it yet!

The power supplies and the EHT generator are all pretty straightforward.

The deflection amplifiers appear to be on three custom ICs, which could be thick-film hybrids... but are going to be a problem if you need replacements.

I took the original post to mean that Gavin was trying to source a replacement flyback transformer ?

An open winding? Insulation breakdown? If the EHT section is OK, a re-wind of the rest should be possible.

The CRT should be a pretty normal type, but the symmetrical deflection yoke will be unusual.... that said TV parts ought to be adaptable to bias and power the CRT.

You say 'apparently' it needs a new flyback transformer. How do you know? What are the fault symptoms? We should start with those.
